Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris is set to appear before an Ilorin High Court on Wednesday August 1, 2018. The continued detention of the Personal Assistant to Kwara State Governor AbdulFattah Ahmed, Lekan Alabi made the High Court sitting in Ilorin to put notice forward to IGP. Personal Assistant Lekan Alabi was apprehended on the case of April 5, 2018 bank robbery incidence in offa.

Adelodun Ibrahim, who is the lead counsel to the suspect, criticized the police on missing the mark on the release of another suspect Babatunde AbdulWahab who is the chief of staff to the Kwara State Governor over the same case. Ibrahim further expressed that despite the fact that he had been granted bail by another high court in the state, he has remained in police custody.

The lawyer explained that the refusal of the police to obey the court order on Abdulwahab was worrisome as it portends grave danger to the deepening of democracy and might lead to a loss of confidence in the fairness of the police to handle such cases among the populace.
