The federal lawmaker representing Rivers South East in the National Assembly, Senator Magnus Abe, has boldly said that he will never kneel before Transport Minister, Rotimi Abaechi, to support his 2019 gubernatorial bid.
Senator Abe said this amid speculations that he may have crawled before Amaechi to get him to endorse his governorship ambition.
Recall that the federal lawmaker had emerged the gubernatorial candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers after winning the party’s ticket at the just held governorship primary election in the state.
Mr Amaechi had in February vowed not to support Abe’s governorship bid. While reacting to speculations that he may have gone to beg the minister ahead of the election that comes up next year, Abe said: “As a Christian, my knees are exclusively for the Almighty God. Those who fear God cannot kneel before man. Our struggle is based on our faith in God and His promise of freedom for the oppressed.
“I bought the form for Governor, and I am running for the office of Governor.
“And gentlemen, keep the faith and work hard. Our struggle has just begun and our day of Glory shall surely come,” he said in a tweet.
